Tribhuvan International Airport, located in Kathmandu, Nepal, is the oldest international airport in the country. It has been in operation since 1955 and has since then served as a gateway to Nepal for many international travelers. The airport has a number of airlines that operate flights to and from various countries including Hong Kong, Delhi, Japan, Bangkok, and many more.
The airport has undergone several renovations and upgrades over the years to keep up with the ever-increasing number of passengers. It has a single runway that is 3,050 meters long and is capable of handling large aircraft. The airport also has a number of facilities for passengers such as duty-free shops, restaurants, lounges, and currency exchange counters.
Despite its age, Tribhuvan International Airport continues to be an important hub for international travel to and from Nepal. Its strategic location in Kathmandu makes it an ideal gateway to the country for tourists and business travelers alike.

Arrival Procedures:
Immigration
If you are a foreign passport holder (all visitors except Indian nationals) required Visa to enter Nepal, please move the passport /visa counter.
If you have a Nepalese passport holder, you need to go to the local counter. No visa is required for own country passport holders.
Baggage Claim
As soon as the immigration procedure is completed, please go ahead to the baggage claim area to claim your luggage. You have to go one floor down.
Security Check
After getting the luggage to show it to the security check and out of the airport.

Once enter the airport, please proceed to the check-in counter show your passport, ticket, and valid visa for the country you are going to; if you have any luggage, please show your weight and get the boarding pass.
Proceed for immigration formalities
Please fill up the departure card, make the passport and visa ready, and show it to the immigration counter.
Proceed Security check process
Sometimes they have different male and female security lines; the security check will happen according to the flight schedule, so please wait patiently. Usually, the announcement system is not very systematic sometimes; they only do it in the Nepali language, so foreigners have difficulties understanding missed flights.

Once the security check has been done, you proceed to the flight.

Police Help Desk:
It is located outside the main building for security and information purpose; they provide much information from the counter.
Post Office Service:
Post office service is available at the TIA, including buying tickets by dispatch letter, Registered letter, and many more.
Free Wifi facility:
Like other airports, Nepal’s one of the most popular older airports also has the full coverage of a Free WiFi facility. Also, charging points are available in many locations within the area.
Press Room:
Some Press meet Rooms to participate a small number of people, like 30-50 people that can use quick business conferences or other purposes.
Hotel Reservation counter:
The visitor landed here without a Hotel reservation. Some of the City’s reputed star hotel counters are always there for the service.
Banking Facility:
Bank ATMs and foreign currency exchange counter, and other banking counters are available for the specific location.
Because of the small area inside the airport building, The arrival hall is very tiny. However, they have a money exchange counter, which helps those who haven’t converted their money to the local currency.
Note: US Dollar and other major currencies quickly converted to the local currency.
Coffee Shops:
Snacks and coffee shops are available in various locations, for the Departure hall area, due to the departure passengers, this area is rush most of the time because of the flight delay, or cancellation would be happening.
